Executive Administrator

 

The Executive Administrator of Cross Country Alaska reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the organization's consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. The Executive Administrator has several roles:

  • Besh Cup Race Manager

  • Team Alaska Manager

    • Junior Nationals

    • Arctic Winter Games

  • Community Events Manager

  • Summer Events Manager


The position is .5 FTE annually, and is closer to 1.0 FTE during the season around the race weeks.

Lauri Bassett, the Executive Administrator since 2013 is moving on and Cross Country Alaska is looking to bring in new talent. This position of Executive Administrator began as a very part time position with responsibilities of managing Besh Cup races, tracking Team Alaska points and helping coordinate Team Alaska members for JN and AWG. Over the years, thanks to the support of the Board of Directors to expand the reach of Cross Country Alaska, Cross Country Alaska now offers community events, such as:

  • Tuesday Night Ski Race series – in collaboration with the UAA ski team

  • Alyeska Hill Climb – a collaboration with members of the Girdwood community and the Girdwood Nordic Ski Club

  • Summer camp opportunities for Regional Elite Group skiers and U16 age group skiers

  • Coaches' education and development opportunities

  • Officials' education and development opportunities

  • Community outreach to ski clubs around the state

  • Support of Besh Cup race host clubs to develop trails for community use and racing opportunities

  • Creation of Alaska Cross Country Ski Hall of Fame
