Besh Cup races #1 and #2 were pulled off under minimal snow conditions last weekend in Anchorage. The race director and CCAK president both offer thanks to all who made it happen. Plus, points lists have been updated after two races.
From Peter Johnson, CCAK Board President Kudos to all who worked so hard to put on Besh Cup 1 & 2. By all accounts it was very well run event with fun new trails for both the skiers and spectators. Thanks to all who came out last week to shovel, and to the groomers. You did wonders with what little snow we had. Thanks to the organizers, TD's, Chief of course, start list organizer etc for a well organized race and intersting courses. Thanks to the timers in the timing hut for producing accurate results in real time on the big board for all to see. Thanks to all the timing volunteers, bib removers, the sign up table folks, starting officials, chili feed and baked goods cooks, and of course the always professional green grunts (who only require a few donuts in payment). And thanks to all the athletes who dared to take on winter in Alaska and show what a great set of athletes Alaska produces.
I hope you all have a great Christmas, and look forward to many more great races in the New Year.
From Matt Pauli, Besh 1 & 2 race director and Chief of Competition for 2008 Junior Olympics Thanks to all the officials, volunteers, parents, spectators, vendors, coaches, and athletes that officially christened the new sprint loop and the new and improved Elliott's Climb at Kincaid Park. The Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage hope you enjoyed them as much as we enjoyed designing them and building them. Come back to Anchorage for the state high school meet in February and the showcase event for March 2008, the USSA Junior Olympics.
