Kachemak Nordic Ski Club will dedicate the Lookout Mountain Recreation Area - 10:30am Saturday March 14th at the start of the 2009 Kachemak Marathon Ski in Homer.  The immeasureable contributions of Doug Schwiesow will be honored with the naming of Schwiesow Stadium (click on the article title for more info).

Kachemak Nordic Ski Club is very excited to announce the formal dedication of the Lookout Mountain Recreation Area at the start of the 2009 Kachemak Marathon Ski on March 14 at 10:30 AM. The immeasurable contributions of Doug Schwiesow will be honored with the naming of Schwiesow Stadium. We have worked for over four years to create a world class venue for competitive skiing.  Bill Spencer led the design process and numerous volunteers have contributed to the successful development. The trail system is built to encourage recreational use all year round and is integrated with the existing hayfield trails.  Please join us for this special occasion and celebrate the creation of the 7.5K trail system within over 160 acres of park, located on Ohlson Mountain Road.
