Why: In 2005, the Alaska Winter Stars parent booster club developed a mission statement that identified as one of their community service commitments, the desire to assist Alaska cross-country skiers who are dedicated to becoming competitive at national and international levels. The outgrowth of that determination is this Alaska Cross-Country Ski Racer Development Fund. While the goals of the fund are broader, this first offering is targeted to help qualified younger skiers gain international experience by assisting with financial support to attend the Junior and U23 World Championships. It is the Fund Advisors’ intention to expand future assistance to U.S. national events and/or Alaska-based programs, as funds allow. Thank you to Alaska Winter Stars parents and others in the community whose contributions have made this possible.
