Wanna go to Arctic Winter Games? If you don't have your passport, you need to apply for one soon.
Team Alaska athletes traveling to Yellowknife, NWT will be required to have passports to board the Team Alaska charter and enter Canada. It took more than 11 weeks for us to get one for our daughter last spring and we've heard stories of delays that were even longer. Families hoping to send athletes to the Arctic Winter Games in March should research current requirements and get the process rolling soon. We had to book an afternoon to stand in line ( both parents and kid) with forms filled out and documents collected in advance. Then we waited several weeks longer than we expected for the passport. Luckly, Zoey got her passport for a trip over seas with about 10 days to spare. I wouldn't recommend cutting it that close. You can read up on what it takes to get a passport these days at http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html.
Happy processing!
