The technique remains freestyle. This will mirror the 2018 US National Championships distance & technique format.

It’s time to get prepared for the upcoming cross country ski season! Along with assessing gear for any growing that likely occurred since spring, it’s time to update your U.S. Ski & Snowboard license. The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Early Bird membership registration deadline is Sunday, October 15th, 2017 at 5 p.m. MDT.  Price increases go into effect beginning Oct. 16. All racers in the ConocoPhillips Besh Cup races need some kind of U.S. Ski & Snowboard license: either an annual General license or an annual Competitor license. There is an option for a race-day license though please note that it is only available to purchase online prior to race day.

  • U16, U18, U20 skiers looking to make the JN team need a Competitor license.
  • U16, U18, skiers looking to make the AWG team need a Competitor license.
  • All other skiers need a General license
    • U14 skiers looking to make the either the AWG team or the Inner Mountain Youth Division Championships team (if this team is fielded) need a General U.S. Ski & Snowboard license.
    • Masters skiers looking to compete in national U.S. Ski & Snowboard events can purchase a license for $45. With this license they will be scored and ranked in the U.S. Ski & Snowboard system.

  • 2018 Inner Mountain Youth Division Championships – Jackson, Wyoming: February 23-25 (U14 – if a team is fielded)
  • 2018 Junior Nationals – Soldier Hollow, Utah: March 3-10 (U16 / U18 / U20)
  • 2018 Arctic Winter Games Fort Smith/Slave Lake, Northwest Territories, Canada: March 18-24 (U14 / U16 / U18)

Final 2017-18 Besh Cup Calendar – Updated November 22, 2017

Pre-registration feees (per race) are unchanged from last season:

  • $35 for U16 and older
  • $20 for U14
  • $7 for U08/U10/U12

Racers who register for all 6 races by midnight November 30 get 6 races for the price of 5. This is limited to U16 and older racers.

All racers who register for all 6 races prior to Besh Cup 1 receive a complimentary Besh Cup t-shirt provided by TRAX Outdoor Center of Fairbanks. Also, all U08, U10, U12 racers receive a complimentary Besh Cup t-shirt. Sizes get limited throughout the season. Plan to get your shirt as early as possible! Skiers who sign up “ala carte” and end up racing all six races are eligible for a shirt; though size availability may be limited.

General race weekend information for each race will be posted two weeks prior to each race.

Registration for each weekend closes the Wednesday night (at midnight) prior to each race weekend.

  • To be specific – these dates are December 13, January 17 and January 31. You have an opportunity to register on race day for an increased fee (and no seeding based on U.S. Ski & Snowboard points). Your U.S. Ski & Snowboard membership must be updated prior to race day registration. This means annual or short-term.
  • Start lists are posted by Friday before the race based on the most recently published U.S. Ski & Snowboard point list, so make sure you’re current with U.S. Ski & Snowboard before their cutoff.

Race day registration fees:

  • $45 for U16 and older
  • $30 for U14
  • $10 for U08/U10/U12
  • Skiers without a General or Competitor license can purchase a short-term license online with USSA prior to race day. There are no longer paper forms available through U.S. Ski & Snowboard.
