2017 Senior National Championships and 2016 World Junior Biathlon Championships

Over 20 skiers competed at the Senior National Championships at Soldier Hollow, Utah and several earned spots on National teams.

UAA skier Hailey Swirbul and APU skiers Hunter Wonders and Luke Jager qualified to attend the World Junior Championships also to be held at Soldier Hollow January 26 – February 5.

Luke Jager also qualified for the US team that competes in the U18 Nordic Junior Countries Competition in Orkdal (Knyken), Norway. Competition runs January 22 – February 1. He opted to attend this competition with fellow APU skier Canyon Tobin and Alaska Winter Stars Molly Gellert and Gus Schumacher.

Below are the USSA points lists from the Senior Nationals Competition. Skiers who placed in the top 30 earned spots on the Team Alaska Junior Nationals team. Current CCAK Junior Nationals Standings.

Additionally, three Alaska biathletes secured spots on the World Junior Biathlon team which automatically earns them spots on the Team Alaska Junior Nationals team. Congratulations to the following biathletes for their success at the December tryouts competition!
