Besh Cups #3 & #4 – Homer – Information
Online Registration is closed, but a limited number of day of race entries are available until one hour before race start in the bib yurt. Cost: $7 for J4 and younger $40 for J3 and older.
Besh Cup 3 – Saturday January 21
Venue – Lookout Mountain Trails – located on Harbinson Lane and Olhson Mountain Road (9 miles or 20-30 minutes from downtown Homer depending on road conditions). Two main parking lots are located off Harbinson Lane, with overflow parking on Olhson Mt. Road. The Start and Finish Stadium is located down from the lower parking lot. Lookout Mountain Venue Information:
ʘ For the 2012 Besh Cup Races, the Kachemak Nordic Ski Club will be assembling a Yurt Village for athlete care, bib distribution and changing rooms. Two school buses will also be on site for athlete care.
ʘ Power is not available at Lookout Mountain. Teams requiring electricity need to bring generators for waxing purposes.
ʘ There is no waxing shelter at Lookout Mountain. It is strongly recommended that team glide wax at their hotels before arriving at the venue.
Driving Directions to Lookout Mountain:
From the Sterling Highway
- Head Northeast (towards downtown) on W Pioneer Ave ( go 1 mile )
- Continue onto East End Road ( go 0.8 miles)
- Turn left onto East Hill Road ( go 2.4 miles)
- Slight Right onto Skyline Drive ( go 3.4 miles )
- Turn left onto S-930/Ohlson Mountain Road (2.1 miles)
- Turn left on Harbinson Lane to get to parking areas (overflow parking on Ohlson Mnt. Rd.)
- Parking is somewhat limited so if folks are able to carpool and then park in close together, that will help

They are offering an indoor wax room, complimentary breakfast buffet, and discounted dinner menu in their Chart Room Restaurant (discounted menu is available to Besh Cup families staying elsewhere too). They also have a beach front hot tub, indoor sauna, and endless pool. Lands End is interested in putting together a special Besh Cup event Saturday evening Jan 21 (let Lea Miller at Lands End know if you are interested in attending).
