The six race Besh Cup series is the preeminent statewide cross country ski race series.  Each year, while many sensible Alaskans are huddling at home in front of the TV, the best skiers in Alaska are competing in sprint and distance ski races Anchorage and Eagle River in December, the Kenai Peninsula (Soldotna or Homer) in January, and Fairbanks in early February.  The 14 to 20 year old Alaskan skiers with the best overall results in the series are selected to represent Alaska in the Junior Olympics (in Minneapolis in 2011).
