-Free technique race open to all age groups (J6 through Masters)

This is the third race in the 2000-2001 Junior Olympic Qualifying series-the statewide series used to select the teams which will represent Alaska at the USSA Junior Nationals (a.k.a. Junior Olympics).

Registration: Mail all entries to: Cross Country Alaska, PO Box 71055, Fairbanks, AK 99707-1055.

Entries must be received (not postmarked) by entry deadlines in order to be entered in the races. Race entry deadline: Besh Cup #3 and #4, deadline January 17, 2001

-Entry fees for J3 and older CCAK members: $15.00 per event; $5.00 for J4 and younger (CCAK membeship not required). Fees for non-members are $30.00.

-Format: Free technique, dual start. USSA sanctioned. The event is being run under Popular Race Rules which requires delay or cancellation if temperatures are -25C (-13F) or colder.

-Start Times: Start list will be posted. Race commences at 11:00.

-Distances: 1km for J6 boys and girls, 2K for J4/J5 boys and girls, 3km for J2/J3 boys and girls, 10km for J1/OJ/SR/M women, 15km for J1/OJ/SR/M men.

-Course: All races will be at McNeil Canyon School located 12 miles out East End road. Course maps and start lists will be available at local hotels the day before the race. Course maps and start lists will be posted at the start.

- Food available: Chili-$3.00, Baked potatoes with toppings-$3.00, Cup of soup-$1.00, Hot drinks-$1.00 (Proceeds will go to support Homer Charter School)

- Special info: This years race will be on the ski trails maintained by the Kachemak Nordic Ski Club at the McNeil Canyon School. The school is located at Mile 12 on East Road (an extension of Pioneer Avenue, which goes through town). There will be a loading/unloading zone at the rear of the school near the gym. Waxing can be done in the gym. The school will be open for restrooms. Change rooms will be set-up in the school halls.

PLEASE, NO SKIS OR FOOD INSIDE THE SCHOOL BUILDING. SKIS ARE PERMITTED IN THE WAXING ROOM IN THE GYM ONLY! Please respect these rules so we can continue to use these facilities.
